Olliff Butterfly Tapestry II

This second tapestry will also be displayed in the narthex of the First United Methodist Church in Statesboro, GA. It was commissioned by Mrs. Katherine Olliff in honor of W. R. Lovett, a close friend of her husband, S. Ed Olliff. It features native flora and fauna surrounding the Cross centered with IHS. A descending dove is centered amidst sprays of passion vine. Detailed portions of the canvas were stitched in petit point by Mrs. Joyce Lovett.
Suggested Fibers
This tapestry was also stitched with Paternayan persian wool because of its durability and moth-proofing.
